On Friday, September 23, 2011 Berwick Electric Company received GE Johnson Award for Marketplace Ethics at the 17th Annual Better Business Bureau Customer Service Award Gala at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The GE Johnson award for Marketplace Ethics was awarded to the applicant that, as elected by the judging panel, to have exhibited "high ethical standards of behavior towards customers, suppliers, users, shareholders, employees, and communities in which they do business."
Brittany Harp, Marketing Coordinator for Berwick Electric Company, was in attendance at the dinner and is pictured on the Better Business Bureau's (BBB) press release as she is accepting the award for Berwick Electric. Harp gave a thank you on behalf of all the staff and electricians at Berwick Electric Company (see video clip below, about one minute into the segment). She proceeded to list off 6 major questions that are asked of every BEC employee as they make decisions in the workplace (as per the policy handbook that all employees are required to sign upon hire). The policy handbook section related to ethics and decision-making, the topic that keynote speaker, Peter Lemon stuck to throughout his address. "As Mr. Lemon so strongly endorses, Harp closed with, "We should all be proud of our workplace decisions."
